Extra Rooms insulation is twice as thick as the walls themselves!

Having already a reputation for using highly effective insulation by adopting the most modern reflective type and making all the sufaces of an extra room into S.I.P.S. (Structural insulated panels), following negotiations with an insulation company for a bulk supply contract, as from June 1st 09, all extra rooms are now being constructed with the reflective efficient insulation on the inside surface of BOTH sides of the panels.

David Fowler, director of extra rooms states "We have always been told by insulation experts that to get a true figure for insulation values, it is necessary to not just measure the insulation in isolation, but to measure the total effect of the constuction it goes into, as the method of construction has a strong bearing on the overall efficiency of the insulation, it can either enhance or detract from the true insulation values of the final product and this is what matters at the end of the day.

Due to the insulation now being placed with the heat reflective surfaces facing one another, in all panels within all extra rooms, the panels act as a heat lock, whereby the heat is trapped within all the surfaces inside the construction panels and the effect is to increase the values to exceed the equivalent of five inches of fibreglas insulation, even though the cavity within the sips is only 2.5 inches so the effect is to make the insulation equivalent to twice the thickness of the walls themselves."

For customers of extra rooms who are almost fanatical about insulation and are wishing to go even further to help the environment, the sealed cavity within the sips can be further filled with either rockwool or sheeps wool insulation and this should exceed even the latest most stringent house building regulations.

This is a little excessive as all our extra rooms are double glazed, properly sealed and plastered, and as single units, unlike in houses, there are no adjoining stairways or open doorways to corridors etc so the lack of draughts and the efficient insulation we already fitted has always kept the lid on heat loss, which is why all previous extra rooms were already highly effective in retaining heat or staying comfortably cool in the summer, now they are double that as standard and at no extra cost to our customers.
